One Thermostat. Every Truck. Every Home.

Thermostats Were Built for Homeowners. The boldr Universal Thermostat Is Built for the Pro.
For the last decade, thermostat innovation has been aimed at the person who lives in the house. Bigger screens, smarter apps, voice control. All useful. None of it helps the tech standing in a mechanical room with two conductors in the wall, a heat pump that needs five, and a homeowner who just finished the basement.
The contractor decides what goes into the home. The contractor carries the stock, pulls the wire, answers the callback and owns the relationship. Yet the thermostat has rarely been designed around that job. At boldr, our products are built on ride-alongs, in furnace rooms and alongside technicians in the field, and the same problems came up on almost every job.
Those problems shaped every design decision. The boldr Universal Thermostat was built from the ground up to solve five of them.
Difficult installs. When the right conductors are not at the wall, a simple upgrade turns into pulling new wire through finished drywall, and an ACCA session led by Copeland put the fully loaded cost of a truck roll at roughly $84 an hour. The Universal Thermostat splits into a Display and a Base, so the Base mounts at the equipment, the Display goes anywhere in the home, and simple swaps need no C-wire adapter.
Any system. No thermostat on the market has been truly one SKU for every system, so compatibility is the first question on every job. The Universal Thermostat is designed for virtually every residential and light-commercial system: mini-splits, heat pumps with dual fuel and auxiliary heat, single and multi-stage central air, boilers, fan coils and VRF.
Any jobsite. Different jobsites have meant different stats on the truck, and every new model means more time training techs, aligning with OEM requirements and building trust in the product, at a time when the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects about 40,000 HVAC technician openings every year through 2034. With one platform, re-assignable terminals set in the boldr Pro app and wiring confirmed on the thermostat screen, techs learn one setup flow for every job.
After the install. Most thermostats have little in their hardware or software designed to help the contractor keep the customer, so many Pros end up paying for ads to win back homeowners they already earned once. The Universal Thermostat carries the contractor's brand into the homeowner's app and connects every install to the boldr Pro platform, giving the Pro a reason to reach out first.
No data. A traditional thermostat sends commands and reports nothing back, so when a call comes in, dispatch is guessing. Because the Base sits at the equipment, the Universal Thermostat monitors fault switches, cycling behavior and supply and return temperatures, and surfaces them before the truck rolls.
One thermostat, built to answer all five. Over the coming weeks we will dig into each of these in detail, but contractors do not need to wait: a boldr Pro specialist can walk through compatibility, install options and getting started on the next job.
